Tai Chi (Simplified Chinese: 太极; Traditional Chinese: 太極; Pronounced: tài jí) is a unique body and mind exercise method. It originated from Chinese traditional martial arts while merging with Taoist Yin-Yang theory. It emphasizes internal strength and has some characteristics of Qigong, so it is also known as an internal martial art. It is practiced for both defense training and health benefits. With the promotion of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day over the last two decades, Tai Chi has become widely known and is growing in popularity worldwide.
