Qigong (Simplified Chinese: 气功; Traditional Chinese: 氣功; Pronounced: qì gōng) is an ancient Chinese exercise which can date back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD), It is based on Taoist theories and also absorbed some Buddhist theories of mind. Qigong unifies Chinese medical principles, meditation, rhythms of breathing, and body movements to regulate and enhance physical, emotional and mental functions and health. Because of its health benefits, Qigong is practiced by millions of people especially in Asia and is rapidly gaining popularity in Europe as well as in the United States. Clinical research on Qigong for its potential benefit in treating disease has been inconclusive, dozens of research articles about killing cancer cells by external Qi have been published in peer-reviewed journals.
